The Launch in partnership with Bude Christian Fellowship and many Christians in and
around Bude took place on Thursday 11th February in The Acland Suite at Bude’s Falcon
Hotel by kind permission of the management. The Organisers were
delighted to see a large crowd who gathered to hear news of successful Street Pastors
schemes in Torbay and Newquay.
There is a long list of things that will be needed to support the Street Pastors
Project for Bude and Organisers hope that the whole community will be able to work
together for good. There is already cross-denominational help for this Project which
will operate in Teams of four persons each fully trained in how to deal with difficult
situations that arise late on Friday & Saturday nights in the town. For each Team
out on the streets there will also be an equal number of “Prayer Partners” back at
Base who will support the work outside. If you would like to get involved age is
no barrier, Lots of helpers are needed NOW. We need admin and support help: the
bigger the team the less there is for all to do! And we do need financial assistance.
It costs £300 to train and kit out each Street Pastor, as well as other costs - radios,
first aid, flip-flops, water, admin. etc. We are applying like crazy for any grants
we can and some people have made individual donations, but as a Christian initiative
it would look really good if all the other funders could see the churches giving
as well. Please consider this prayerfully, please give what ever you can. We have
the total support of the Police and the Mayor for this scheme to run in Bude. Nationally
there are 125 schemes working hard to bring care and support to local communities
This is a golden opportunity for Bude so lets catch it and use it. We look forward
to working with you and hopefully we will hear from you soon.
