Friday 28th May saw the commissioning service of the first 20 Street Pastors in Bude at the Methodist Church.  Quite a gathering of Christians from various churches saw the first batch of Street Pastors receive their caps and certificates after training and then go out in to Bude with one team patrolling until 3 am.

The congregation joined in prayers and songs and there was a warm atmosphere, with readings from the team as well. They also heard from local policeman Dave Flynn and Co-coordinator Kevin Hogarth and the prayer team who support the initiative were blessed by Rev Paddy Kyle.  Ros Ede Ascension Trust rep and Torbay Co-coordinator conducted the act of commissioning and presented caps before the closing song.

At present the Street Pastors will just patrol on Friday nights to support the youth project at Splash swimming pool, but they hope to grow in number and patrol Saturdays too by the middle of summer.  "The key to the success is a non-judgemental attitude to all we meet and a caring listening ear to those in need,"  Kev ‘said.  "We've seen crime and anti-social behaviour drop in areas where SP operated and it was now the opportunity for the church in Bude to get onto the streets and show the love we preach to all."

We value everyone's prayers and support, anyone who is interested in applying or supporting the Street Pastor project can ring him on
