Zambia, U.N. Rated is 164th out of 177 poorest countries. 17% of the adult population is HIV positive. One doctor will serve every 11,000 people, half the population is 15 years or under. 1.6 million children have lost one or both parents to AIDS and 51% of the population are unable to meet their basic food needs. Our main project was to help the Evangelical Church of Zambia build more classrooms at a school for underprivileged children in Chamba Valley, Lusaka.

Some of the poorest compounds had up to 35,000 people (60% children) HIV positive. They had no social or health care and hardly any schools. At one compound we were going to feed about 300 children but when they found out we were coming 471 children turned up at school that day. The trip gave us an opportunity to explore our own faith so much more and we feel very blessed to have had this experience. You will probably get emotional, shed tears, feel very frustrated, but you will also feel so blessed and fortunate that you could help even if only in such a small way. The chances are you will also get just a little closer to God through your experience on a Mission Direct Holiday. Thanks to everyone who gave donations or came to our ‘Garden Party’ earlier in the year. We financed our personal travel costs, this meant that we could give 100% of funds raised to the Project which amounted to £1475.00.
Thank You everyone.
